Tribe is for people that are looking for more than just housing. We’re looking for people that want to be part of a vibrant community. We’re very intentional about the communities we aim to create within our homes and understand that community starts with our amazing members.

Here are a few things that we look for in members: Eagerness to connect with others, an interesting background and skill set, an outlook that values sharing and collaboration.

What does it cost to move in?
1st month rent in addition to a 1-month security deposit is required to move in. There are no broker fees.

How long does the Application Process take?
The application process takes 1-2 days on average. After you submit your application, you can sign up for an interview asap. We send interview acceptances on the night of your interview.

What are the steps in the Application Process?
The application process is quick and efficient. We usually get back to members in as little as 1-2 days. Need help immediately? Call us! Submit application and sign up for interview.Interview and hear back. Sign lease and pay deposit!

What happens after the interview?
After the interview, we’ll send you your results that night. If you’re accepted, you are welcome to sign a lease with us (pending background and financial check).

What does a membership include?
Housing: Rent, utilities (water, heat, electric), cleaning, communal area furnishings, basic bedroom furnishings, Netflix/Hulu, laundry detergent, kitchen supplies, and bathroom supplies.
Fun and Friends: We host weekly and monthly events for our members. These events might include anything ranging from a house dinners, to music nights, to speaker events.

How do utilities work?
All utilities are divided evenly per person per unit! Usual utilities are about $55 -$75 per person (depending on usage) This includes Heat, electric, water, WiFi.

What are the types of events?
We love events. Past events include speaker events, holiday parties, BBQ’s, networking meetups, comedy shows, and musical performances.
We also have smaller weekly events which might include snack nights, happy hours, or community dinners.
Events are included in the price and are meant to facilitate forming new friendships and connections.  

How do I pay every month? Can I pay electronically?
We use the industry standard rental software, Appfolio (www.appfolio.com). All members are required to use our designated payment platform which allows payment with e-check (bank transfer) or credit/debit card. 

Can members host events?
Absolutely! We have members that are passionate and interested in many different things. Some members have given talks about a particular subject matter and others have held workshops, book clubs, or run-a-thons. Let us know what you’re thinking and we’ll try to help!

What is the average length of stay?
The average length of stay is 6 months that being said, we’ve had many members that have been with us for over 2 years. 

Can I have friends visit and stay over?
You are welcome to have guests over. Please notify your housemates before as a courtesy.

Are the community spaces cleaned?
Our NYC townhouses are cleaned 1 time per month. Our SF building is cleaned 4-5 times per week. 

Does Tribe charge a broker fee?
No broker fees!

Can I see the houses in person?
Yes! We invite people to tour after a phone interview. We also offer video walk through tours. 

What do the houses look like?
Our NYC locations are all townhouses. Some of the houses have multiple kitchens, others have backyards, and all of the houses have various communal living areas for dining, working, and relaxing. Average building size is between 2500 - 4000 SQFT.
Our SF location is a large building. There is ample communal space on the lower level including a large kitchen, living room, study room, and movie theater. The SF building is approximately 12,000 SQFT.

Do I get to choose which location I live in?
Yes! If you are sent an offer, you are welcome to choose any house to live in. If you need help choosing, contact us and we’ll help you!

How much does Tribe cost?
Tribe prices start at $650/month. This includes furnishings, community events, washer and dryers in buildings & more.
