Here's how our application process works
Submit an initial application here (this will let us know what you’re looking for and why).
Immediately after, you will schedule an interview time with us.
After your interview, we would schedule a virtual tour of the premises.
Once interviewing and touring is over, we’ll ask you to submit an application of lease which includes a background & credit check (this takes 2 business days to verify, and costs approximately $25).
Once the background & credit check comes back clean, you’re ready to move in!

Who is this for?
Tribe is for people that are looking for more than just housing. We’re looking for people that want to be good roommates and community members. We’re very selective about who we offer our properties to and understand that a great living experience starts with amazing roommates.
Here are a few things that we look for in members: Eagerness to connect with others, an interesting background and skill set, an outlook that values sharing and collaboration.
What does it cost to move in?
1st month rent in addition to a 1-month security deposit is required to move in. There are no broker fees.
How do the leases work?
There are two ways in which you can sign a lease. You could go straight into the month-to-month lease at its full price, or you can take our promotion of signing a one-time 4-month lease at a reduced price. Once the 4 months are over and if you've decided to stay at Tribe, you will be moved to a month-to-month lease but at a reduced rate, so you'll still be paying less than if you were to sign a month-to-month lease from the get go.
How fast can I move in?
For those in need of immediate move-ins, we provide move-in opportunities based on availability. It usually takes 3-5 business days after your virtual tour if we have spots available for you to move in. Take into consideration there is sometimes a waitlist for specific room types.
What are the steps in the application process?
The application process is quick and efficient. We usually get back to members in as little as 1-2 days. Need help immediately? Call us! Submit application and sign up for interview. Interview and hear back. Sign lease and pay deposit!
What happens after the interview?
After the interview, we’ll send you your results that night. If you’re accepted, you are welcome to sign a lease with us (pending background and financial check).
How do utilities work?
All utilities are included in the rent! This includes, electricity, water, trash, laundry, WiFi, etc.
How do I pay every month? Can I pay electronically?
We use the industry standard rental software, Appfolio (www.appfolio.com). All members are required to use our designated payment platform which allows payment with e-check (bank transfer) or credit/debit card.
What is the average length of stay?
The average length of stay is 6 months that being said, we’ve had many members that have been with us for over 2 years.
Can I have friends visit and stay over?
Under normal circumstances you are welcome to have guests over, just please notify your housemates before as a courtesy. However, due to the pandemic our guest policy is constantly changing according to city ordinance. If you want to bring someone over, please notify management for the most updated information on our current guest policy.
Are the community spaces cleaned?
Yes! Our house is cleaned 4-5 times per week.
Does Tribe charge broker fees?
No broker fees!
Can I see the house in person?
Due to COVID-19 you have to have a prove of vaccine in order to do in-person tours. We also invite people to look through the house via video walk through tours with our house manager, especially if you're currently not in the city!
Do I get to choose which location I live in?
Currently we are only offering our San Francisco Folsom St. location.
